Short Musical Interlude

I don't know why I torture myself, but I continue to read Pitchfork every day despite the fact that I can't listen to new music here. It's also frustrating because it seems like there is so much good pop out. All hook filled and catchy, the stuff that has been missing in indie music recently. Like MGMT, Vampire Weekend, etc. But anyway, thats not what this is about. This is about El Guincho. So anyone who reads and knows, is it as amazing as the review makes it sound? That is all. Also, feel free to keep me updated on any good stuff coming out, so I know what to find when I get back. That is all for now.
Thanks.

I downloaded and listened to El Guincho last night. A few tracks sound exactly like Panda Bear, a couple others are pretty world-music-y, but for a first run through it was pretty good.

If you liked Vampire Weekend, you should listen to the stuff they copped, which is mostly West African stuff. Check out King Sunny Adé, which is the original root of a lot of the guitar-work.

OK, here's where the old people can come in and offer vintage music! I have about 1/2 dozen or so cassttee tapes of King Sunny Ade if you'd like them. I found a cassette player that connects to the computer so I can digitize all my cassettes. When I figure out how and actually do it, perhaps I could send them through the internet to you. I don't know the format yet, but I imagine you could download it to an MP3 device.
Do I sound really old Joe?!
Yeah, I hear they have wireless computers and such these days...what will they think of next? Or will it all just jump to telepathy?!
Peace, out (~*~)

Hey Joe. I can burn you the Vampire Weekend album if you want. It's pretty catchy like you said. "Time to Pretend" by MGMT is pretty pop-y. You've probably read about it, but Tokyo Police Club is pretty rockin.
